This Month's Life Skill: Conscious Intention
Dear Karate West Member,
Do you consider your intentions seriously? Unsuccessful people have two very different feelings about their intentions. On the one hand, they say that they want to be successful. That’s the first driving intention. On the other hand a limiting belief may lead them to believe it isn’t possible. And that becomes the intention. Intellectually you may be expressing "I want; I desire; I intend." Yet your emotional energy is: "It’s hopeless. It can’t happen. I could never have that." Your negative emotions tend to be more highly charged, and therefore, they are more likely to materialize!
Unsuccessful people allow doubt, fear and confusion to thwart their intentions and take them off the path to success. Successful people act with clear intention. Intentions lay the groundwork for all future success. You must be very specific, sure and optimistic when considering your intentions. You must create an ongoing consciousness about your intentions – not just your long term goals, but your daily intentions. Successful people are not afraid to commit to their intentions!
Steps to activate powerful intentions
- Awaken each morning with a clear intention of your goals
- Visualize the outcome of your intention with enthusiasm and optimism
- Identify your emotions when you feel doubt, fear or confusion – and refocus!
- Stay committed to your intentions
Sincerely,
Shihan Randy Holeman
