This Month's Life Skill: Seven Laws of Habit for the Martial Mind
Dear Karate West Member,
These are what I like to call the Seven Laws of Habit for the Martial Mind. They can be applied to anyone in any field but I can tell you with complete confidence that they have been the foundation for positive change in my personal life and business life. If you train yourself to know and practice these Seven Laws, nothing can stop you from achieving all your dreams! Make it your mission as if you are training for your next black belt. Your mantra should be, “I want, I choose, I commit” to learning and using the Seven Laws of Habit.
- Habit of Vision – spend more time looking to your future goals, dreams and plans and less time reminiscing or regretting the past or present. Most people do not have big enough goals. You must stretch your expectation levels and push past your limitations to a bigger vision.
- Habit of Relationships - get close to people who have success and know more than you do. It is a fact that most people earn within 20% of the same income as their closest friends. You must align with successful people and never stop asking for advice.
- Habit of Focus – stay committed to your future. Do not let setbacks affect your emotional state of mind. Become accountable to your emotions and where they line up on the emotional scale. Choose a better emotion every time you have an opportunity to do so.
- Habit of Expectation – expect to win, expect to succeed. Believe in yourself and know that you deserve it all and that God and the universe want to give it to you.
- Habit of Thought –Understand how powerful your thoughts are! Always look forward with a positive, enthusiastic outlook. Become aware any counter intentions that may block your path to success.
- Habit of Excellence – if it’s worth doing then it’s worth doing to the best of your ability.
- Habit of Gratitude – Gratitude is the most important emotion in the universe. If you truly express, feel, and radiate gratitude good things will come to you. You must learn to be happy in the moment. When you can do this, you will be astonished by the rewards that follow. Be grateful for everything you have and everything you want. If there is nothing to want, what would be the point of life? Be grateful there are things still to dream and desire. It is what life is all about.
Sincerely,
Shihan Randy Holeman
